Dubbed “Profe Babu” in her classroom, Kathy Babula has been teaching middle school Spanish since 1987. Babu has many years of training in crafting lessons that fit the needs and learning styles of her students and she enjoys the creativity that foreign language teaching invites. Her need to better navigate the pressures of a fast-paced educational workplace, a busy life as wife and mother and an overwhelming sense of needing to “fix everything” led Babu to begin her mindfulness studies with Ranjit in 2008. As a long-time observer of the stress that adolescence can bring, Babu has a special interest in sharing her practice of mindfulness meditation with students, parents and teachers.
Babu, originally from Michigan, has lived coast-to-coast from Florida to Oregon, finally settling in Charlotte in 1982. She has a very fit husband, an artistic daughter and two incredibly lazy cats. She is absolutely bonkers about collecting antique beads. Babu credits Ranjit and her meditation practice with helping her turn her 2010 experience with breast cancer into a spiritual adventure.
